Stovall honored as Fan of the Year for his years of service to Bobcat sports

OTTAWA LAKE — The Whiteford Athletic Boosters honored a Bobcat basketball fan like no other Wednesday.

Leonard Stovall has had a front row seat to probably more Whiteford basketball games than any other person. From watching the Bobcats as a student, to playing basketball in a Whiteford uniform to keeping the clock for home games, Stovall has been a part of Whiteford athletics since he was in the fifth grade.

Lenny is a 1967 Whiteford graduate. While at Whiteford he played JV basketball and lettered in varsity baseball and football. After graduation, he served in Vietnam. When he returned from serving his country, Lenny began volunteering on the chain gang for Whiteford football games. It was 1974 when Lenny began his role as keeping the scoreboard and clock for home Whiteford basketball games. He did it for more than 45 years, making him the longest serving basketball timekeeper in Region history.

Stovall was given the 2022 Bobcat Fan of the Year honor at halftime of Wednesday’s game between Whiteford and Britton Deerfield.
