
OTTAWA LAKE — Whiteford senior pitcher Cole Giesige will pitch next season for Albion College in the MIAA.
Giesige recently held a signing ceremony with friends, family and teammates at Whiteford. The 6-foot-3 lefthanded pitcher was second team All-State late year according to the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association and is off to a great start this season. He is 2-1 on the mound and hitting over .460 in eight games.
Last year Giesige his .287 with 33 hits at the plate. On the mound, he went 7-2 with a 2.12 ERA and 96 strikeouts in just 59.1 innings.
Giesige has starred in three sports for Whiteford, having earned All-Tri-County Conference recognition in football, basketball and baseball. He was first team All-State in football in the fall.
