OTTAWA LAKE — Whiteford senior athlete Levi Hillard has officially committed to Lourdes University to play baseball.
The multiple-sport Bobcat athlete held a ceremony last week with family, teammates and Lourdes coaches, including assistant Travis Pant, a Whiteford graduate.
Hillard was an All-State baseball player in 2021, earning second team honors. Hillard capped a strong regular season with a tremendous post-season run, getting the winning hit in the district semifinals, throwing a no-hitter in the district championship game then hitting a homerun in the regional semifinal victory.
At the plate, Hillard hit .400, leading the team. He had 42 hits in 105 at-bats, hit one home run and had 20 RIs. As a pitcher, Hillard went 6-4 with a 1.97 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.
So far this season, Hillard is batting over .300 with two pitching wins to his credit as the Bobcats have started the season 7-1.
He is one of three Bobcats to commit to playing college baseball next season. The others are Cole Giesige (Albion) and Cole Crouch (Delta College).
