OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford lost 1-0 Monday to Jackson Northwest, the No. 1 ranked team in Division 2.
The Bobcats got two hits by Shay Alexander and had the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth but couldn’t push across a run.
Northwest pitcher Neveah Ingram struck out 14. She’s headed to Grand Valley State University.
“Neveah is an excellent pitcher who spins it as good as anyone in the state,” Whiteford coach Matt VanBrandt said. “I’m grateful that Coach Mobley wanted to make the trip and also that our hitters could face her. Even though we lost, we improved today by facing the Mounties.”
Patrina Marsh had five put-outs in center field and had an assist when she threw out a runner at the plate.
Unity Nelson struck out five and threw a complete game for the Bobcats.
Whiteford is 29-4.
