Whiteford playoff history: Qualified for the 23rd time, have been in the playoffs a school-record 11 straight seasons, playoff record is 27-21.

White Pigeon playoff history: The Chiefs are 9-10 in the playoffs all-time. They reached the state finals in 1980, losing to Munising, and 1990, losing to Detroit DePorres.

White Pigeon statistical leaders: James Stewart has rushed 163 times for 908 yards and 12 touchdowns; Caleb Lane has rushed 64 times for 455 yards and 13 touchdowns; Dom Frachetti has 91 carries for 628 yards and eight touchdowns; Quarterback Josh Davidson has completed both of his passes for 57 yards

White Pigeon coach Shawn Strawser (fifth season, 36-15): “We’ve cleaned things up since the early part of our season and those couple of losses. My whole line is back from last year except for one guard and we replaced him with a 300-pound guy. We have experience up front. We are way better when people count us out.”

Whiteford coach Todd Thieken (first year, 11-0): “They are the biggest high school team I’ve ever seen. There is no disguise in what they do. They are going to line up and just say we are tougher than you.”

Up next: The Whiteford-White Pigeon winner will play the winner of Sterling Heights Parkway Christian (6-5) vs. Clarkston Everest College (8-3) on a neutral site in the semifinals next Saturday.
