Whiteford Sweeps BD, Moves Closer to TCC Softball Title

BRITTON – Whiteford pitchers Peyton Welch and Macy Ovall did not allow a hit in Whiteford’s doubleheader sweep of Britton Deerfield Wednesday.

Whiteford won 22-0 and 17-1.

Avy Wood, Welch, and Ovall had three hits apiece. Wood and Alexis Williams had seven RBIs each.

“We’re still growing together, making mistakes and learning,” Whiteford coach Matt VanBrandt said. “We have some good competition in the next two weeks, and we will be very competitive when the state tournament begins.”

Whiteford hosts a pair of Division 1 teams in Gibraltar Carlson (11-6) and South Lyon East (14-6), with game times of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Bobcats can clinch the Tri-County Conference title when they host Sand Creek on May 13. That will also be Senior Night, Youth Night, and the dedication of the dugout.
