ERIE – Whiteford placed second and third in the TCC track and field championships Friday at Erie Mason.
The Bobcat boys were second behind Erie Mason with 153.5 points and finished second in the league.
Whiteford’s girls placed third with 105 points and was third in the league behind Summerfield and Erie Mason.
On the boys side, the Bobcats won all four relays.
The 4×100 and 4×200 was the group of Nate Andrews, Drew Ruddy, Antonio Nachtrab and Brody Hillard. The 4×400 was Andrews, Brek Ruddy, Brody Hillard and Jess Saylor. The 4×800 is Cody Wood, Grant Rasor, Xavier Abalos and Camden Ellis.
Andrews also won the 200, Saylor the 400 and Brek Ruddy the pole vault. Ryan Thomas and Keegan Thomas went 1-2 in the high jump. Ryan Thomas was second in both hurdles.
“We just didn’t have the depth that Erie Mason does to get over that hump of getting another title,” Bobcat coach Jay Yockey said. “They’re a tough team. I am proud of the boys, though, because they all fought hard for every spot they earned.”
Whiteford won three girls relays, Nina Bauman was first in the discus and Briar Wing took first in the 800.
The 4×400 Relay was Brielle White, Sierra DeBarr, Briar Wing and Braelynn Chiotti. The 4×800 relay is Breslin Wing, Briar Wing, DeBarr and Chiotti. The 4×200 is Bauman, Koralynn Billau, Molly Fojtik and DeBarr.
“The girls worked hard as well for their places and did a great job of showing grit and determination,” Yockey said. “They’re a fun bunch to work with and they have worked hard all week.”
Whiteford will compete in the Division 3 regional next week.
