Bobcat Baseball Team Clinches TCC Championship

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford clinched the Tri-County Conference baseball championship Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of Lenawee Christian.

The Bobcats finished the 11-1 in the league after dropping the first game of the season to Summerfield. Summerfield can tie the Bobcats for the league title if they sweep Britton Deerfield Friday.

The Bobcats beat LCS 12-2 in the first game. Tre Eitniear, Jake Scott and Sam Miller had two hits each – with Miller and Eitniear hitting doubles. Luke Henegar had a double and three RBIs. Caden Schroyer went the distance, scattering three hits and allowing no earned runs.

In Game 2, Eitniear and Brody Masters split the pitching duties, combining for a no-hitter in a 15-0 win. Masters started and got credit for the win with four strikeouts. Eitniear struck out four in two innings. At the plate, Scott had three hits and three RBIs. Miller had three more hits. Eitniear, Henegar and Zayne Emch had two hits apiece.

Eitniear has 17 doubles on the season, one shy of tying Whiteford’s single season record. He’s batting .458 on the season.

Whiteford has won four straight TCC championships and 17 all-time.

The Bobcats are 22-6 heading into a scheduled doubleheader Saturday against Bedford.
