Track teams take two from Dundee and Britton Deerfield

DUNDEE – Whiteford’s track and field teams won twice Tuesday, defeating Dundee and Britton Deerfield.

The girls meet came down to the mile relay. The Bobcats were down by one point but pulled out the victory with Annie Gapp, Aubrie Simmons, Briar Wing, and Alaina McClain taking first.

“This shows resilience and their ability to get it done,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “I can always count on my mile relay to take care of business when it counts.”

The Bobcats beat Dundee 70-66 and BD 107-14.

Alaina McClain won the 800, Braelynn Chiotti took the 3200 and Gapp won the 300 Hurdles. In the field events, Kenzi Gray won the shot put and Reagan Wing took first in the pole vault.

The 400, 3200 and 1600 relay teams also won.

In the boys meet, Whiteford beat Dundee 88-49 and BD 110-23.

Yockey pointed to great efforts by Drew Ruddy, Jess Saylor, Brandon Knaggs and Jakub Diesing in picking up two victories.

“Our guys had some aches and pains show up during the meet and we needed some guys to take their teammates places in the relays,” Yockey said. “We had to make some last-minute lineup changes and they showed up big for us.”

Keegan Masters won the 800, Brock Norman the 100, Jess Saylor the 200 and the Bobcats swept the 400 with Ryin Ruddy, Nate Andrews and Brody Hillard. Kolby Masserant won the long jump and the shot put.

The 800, 1600 and 3200 relays also won.

Whiteford hosts the Bobcat Legacy Relays on Saturday.
